Sorry, blog slacker, I know... Things we have been up to lately...

Madi turned 3 in May. Yes, 3!! This year's theme was Strawberry Shortcake. Need to upload some photos from my dead camera. Especially of the cake!

Ryan & I went on our first adult vacation in 3 years in June with our wonderful friends Romy & Luke! We had an AWESOME time & can't wait to go back next year. Cancun anyone?? :)

Work is CRAZY!! More so than usual. The new hospital will be done in September! Can't wait! I am beginning to wonder what I will do with all the time on my hands when the move is done... Oh yeah, going back to school. Should be able to get my CPA in 2013. So, if anyone needs their taxes done, look me up in a few years :)

"Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HEH-nawk SHURN-line PUR-puh-ruh) is a type of vasculitis, a group of disorders that cause blood vessel inflammation. In Henoch-Schonlein purpura, this inflammation causes bleeding in the small blood vessels (capillaries) in your skin, joints, intestines and kidneys. The main symptom is a purplish rash, typically on the lower legs and buttocks. Henoch-Schonlein purpura also often causes abdominal pain and aching joints, and in some people, kidney problems."

It took many Doctor's visits this week to finally get a diagnosis as to what the hell Madi had. They believe that the HSP was triggered by the strep that she came down with while in Mexico.
Other than looking like she's been beaten by a baseball bat, Madi seems to be back to normal. Kidney function is fine and blood levels are appropriate. It should work it's way out of her system in about 4 weeks. Yes, FOUR WEEKS! Poor baby...

We just returned from an ever so needed vacation to Nuevo Vallarta Mexico! My parents were kind enogh to take the entire family for a week! Thanks Mom & Dad for the AWESOME trip! We had so much fun with the entire family and are SOOO lookin forward to the next one :)

Sick Day

Well the winter season is upon us and nothing says winter like a good old taste of the flu. The Morgan household is a swimming pea tree dish of infection this week. Despite getting vaccinated, we are all under the weather this week. I am so grateful for a husband that will help clean up puke in the middle of the night with me. So romantic :) Just happy that it will be over with before Turkey day!

Vacation Getaway

Finally, we were able to get some time off work and go to St. George to visit with Ryan's parents for a week. It was so relaxing. Swimming in the pool, running, shopping & playing golf :) Thank you Mom & Dad for letting us crash for a much needed break!

It has been a while from the last update. Life has been busy to say the least. Full of governing board reports, monthly operating reports & weekly projections. Yes this is the life of a hospital administrator. I am tired. Very tired. This has been a month from hell. To top it off, Ryan is just as busy. We are strangers as of late. Attempting to have a conversation once a day in between conference calls. When people ask us if we are having more kids, I laugh. We barley have enough time for one! I know that there are plenty of you out there that have 4 + kids and seem to handle it just fine. But I openly admit that I am not one of these women. I truly think we are OK with one. Yes one. I am looking forward to a wonderful weekend with my hubby and baby girl. It is so needed.

We celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary last week. Due to our busy schedules, we decided to combine Ry's 33rd birthday and our anniversary all in one weekend. We began the evening with sushi :) Then we did a little bowling, which I sucked at by the way. Then we went and saw Prince of Persia. The next day we had a date day at Lagoon. Neither of us have been there for over 10 years! We had a blast!! Thank you to Dantzel for taking Madi while we played! Ryan, I love you with all that I am. Thank you for always being supportive and for being such a wonderful father to our beautiful daughter. I love you!

Little bug turned two yesterday! I can't belive how fast she has grown! Inspired by her love of The Little Mermaid, we had an Under the Sea theame. It was a lot of work and yes, I went a little overboard as always. But I just can't resist spoiling her :) I just LOVED how her cake turned out! Gotta love Granite Bakery! Family :)

Au revoir Lost

We have followed the TV show Lost religiously from the day it aired. In fact, seeing how we are not a religious family, I guess Lost really has been the closest thing to anything Divine that we do follow... The last episode aired on Sunday. Thanks to Mom & Dad for an AWESOME party by the way :) Lost was so good in so many ways. Ultimately, I believe I loved the idea of a group of strangers being brought together in possibly the most stressful trying times in their lives. Each one of them had their own set of issues. Some worse than others. But in the end, they all found what it was they were looking for. Now I will be looking for another show to watch but I dare say, I will have an issue of my own finding anything that will compare. Farewell Lost and, Namaste :)

RIP Blackberry

For those of you who are not aware of my small Blackberry habit, I must tell you that I am slightly addicted to the damn thing. The crackberry runs my life. It tells me what meetings I have on a daily basis. (And I have A LOT!) When to wake up, Pediatrician appointments, my bank account information and the ever important daily celebrity update :) Tragically, my blackberry died yesterday. In the middle of the hospital cafeteria, I proceeded to spill a cup of Diet Mountain Dew all over it:( Oh, and a little fry sauce... It was not that long ago that I survived without a cell phone. I remember waiting in line at the pay phone after the high school dance to tell Mom & Dad you were on your way home. In a way, life was a lot simpler without one really.... My darling hubby just picked up the new adopted, Mountain Dew free Blackberry and is on it's way home. Despite the fact that I know now that this machine runs my life, I am addicted. My name is Cora, and I am a Blackberry aholic.

Book of the week

I just finished this book this weekend. It was a GREAT read! It is full of suspense, murder and mystery. I highly recommend it. It is the first of a series of three. I started the second book today. And the third will be out in May. If you get a chance, give this one a try. You will not regret it :)

Before I begin this story, let me tell you that I know that what I am about to share is completely absurd but, this is why I have to share it with all of you...
There had been a scratching sound coming from our laundry room for a few days. I knew that it was coming from the dryer vent. At first, I thought it was a mouse. Ryan however noticed a bird flying into the vent a few days ago. A smart little bird had began to build a nest in our dryer vent. I lovingly informed Ryan that It was his job to move the dryer, which he did. I am surprised the the dryer was working at all due to all of the grass and twigs that were stuffed in the vent along with four baby bird eggs. I decided to head to the store to pick up a vent tube. Ryan, decided to go golfing and forgot to push the dryer back.
Upon my return, I put Madi down for a nap and began to clean up the house. "Is that bird shit on my coffee table?" I asked myself. At that very moment, a heard a faint rustling of feathers. My ass has not run up a flight of stairs so fast in my life! Yes my friends apparently I have a fear of birds. I honestly had no idea until I was in a full blown panic attack locked in our bedroom. I was hyperventilating and broke out into hives all over my body. I called my husband. A stream of obscenities that I did not even know was possible came flying out of me as I informed him of the terror I was experiencing. He questioned "Do you think it is going to peck you to death? Go open the door and get the damn bird out of he house!" After he talked me down it took me another 30 minutes to get the courage to open the door. I looked down the stairs and there it was, a robin, staring back at me!

That little conversation sent me screaming back into the bedroom for yet another slight panic. Finally, I managed to open the door again and saw the little thing fly into the laundry room. I ran down the hall closed the door. I had trapped it! You can't believe how proud I was. After a bit of relief, I then remembered that it would be hours before Ryan would return. I was on my own. So, once Madi was awake, we hightailed it out of there.
We spent the remainder of the day at the park. Finally, my virulent husband returned to rescue me from the beast. It only took him a second to catch the now exhausted bird and let it free outside. He then also informed me that there was not one, but two birds in the laundry room. Ugh. That was about all I could take. I went to bed.
I dreamed of birds all night long. I woke my hubby up a few times throughout the night telling him that "I can hear them, there in the house again! They know I killed it's babies!" He rolled over.
In the morning I had finally come to my senses and had gotten over the whole event. Just as I began to walk down stairs, what do I see but the damn bird, flapping hysterically and pecking at the window.
"It's come back for me!!" I screamed as I called Ryan and 7:00 in the morning.
I believe that my husband now thinks that I am a bit crazy and quite frankly, so do I. But at least the event made a great story to tell the guys on the golf course and all of you!

The Morgan household is officially in full overwhelmingly busy mode as of late. Ryan has been working 18-20 hr days, no joke. Ahh, inventory season. I can't wait until I have my husband back. Patience is my new focus.
Madi is in daycare again and is finally acclimated. She still cries and goes hysterical every time I drop her off. She's kind of been in this Mama attachment mode lately. I still cry every time I drop her off. They swear to me that she only cries for 30 seconds but, I still feel like the world's worst mother sometimes. But, I have to work so, she'll just have to get over it I guess.
As far as the dieting and working out goes, I am down 5 pounds. This weight loss has nothing to do with P90 and everything to do with a flu and a cold from hell. But hey, I'm one flu away from my goal weight :)

Holiday Hangover

One of the greatest movies of all time, National Lampoon's Christams Vacation, has a great line. When Clark asks his father how he got through the Holiday's, he responds, "I had a lot of help from Jack Daniels".
Ah, how this could not be more true as I sit here in my big empty house, with a glass of wine contemplating on the past month. We have had a blast! Parties, food, Wii, wine & more food. The makings of the holiday season. As stressfull as this time always is for me, I still love it. Thanks to Grandma Loush for taking baby girl for a few nights. Sleep is such a good thing :)) Pictures to come, to lazy to upload at the moment. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, with a little help from Jack Daniels!

Holiday Fun

I found Madi walking around the house looking like this... so cute!

The holidays are so much funner when you have a kid aren't they? I have always loved Christmas. I've really enjoyed decorating the new house inside & out. Now I finally have room to put out all of my decorations, and still have room for more :) Now, all we need is a really good snow storm so I can take Madi sledding. We decorated sugar cookies with the Piercy's the other day. Jack & Madi were on a sugar rush for most of the evening.
We also did Thanksgiving at our house this year. My fist. Holy hell, I never knew how much work goes into that day. It was a blast though. And we really enjoyed having everyone over! I look forward to doing it again. And maybe next time, I won't have to finish cooking the Turkey in the microwave!

Hot night in Lehi

What a night in the Morgan household we just had! This morning about 1:30 am we wake up to FIRE, FIRE, FIRE The house fire alarm system had been activated. Never had I shot out of bed so quickly. I instantly told Ryan I was getting Madi. Poor thing was still asleep as I quickly got her out of bed. Now note that the day previous I had spent the day putting up all our holiday decorations. So, my fist thought was that the trees were in flames but, no. There was no smell, no smoke, no heat coming from any walls, doors or ceiling. But, that damn alarm was still going off 15 minutes into it. I was now thinking that in might be carbon monoxide. So, who else to call but the Fire Department. They told us to evacuate immediately which we did. A lot of things went through my head in those moments. Realising that everything I needed in the world, I had right there with me. I had my wonderful husband & daughter. I had also taken the advise of someone long ago to make an "oh my God box". This is a fireproof box I keep next to the bed. It contains all our passports, SS cards, birth certificates, wedding photos, Madison's birth, and any other items that are close to us. In that moment, I was calm knowing that if our new beautiful home went down in flames, we had insurance, and all of it could be replaced.
Fire trucks, an ambulance and two police cars ensued. After a search high and low, they could not find any reason for why the alarm had been activated. They reset everything and went on their marry way.
I did not sleep well last night. Many thoughts. But, one conclusion. As long as my family is safe, I have all I need.

We had our weekly "family home evening" with the Piercy's this week. Pumpking carving was the activity for the night. (On top of Greg & Ryan getting in their NFL football fix) Jack & Madi had a BLAST with the finger paints as you can see. Of course, Madi kept sticking it in her mouth which made her teeth all black for a bit :)

Fist of all, I know it has been a LONG time. This is really due to the fact that I just got internet this week. Yes, we have been in our house for damn near 3 months and it took the idiots this long to figure out how to run a data line to our house. Ugh. We have been working on the house and yard from day one and it FINALLY looks presentable. After much weed pulling and rock removing (thank you family), sprinkler lines & curbing, we added the final touch today with grass. We are officially done for the season and will resume in Spring. It might take us that long to pay it off anyway! Next year is the back yard. We are so happy here and have loved having a home. What a change from the tiny condo life :)

Home Sweet Home

We have been itching to move for a while now. We have been sticking it out in our condo for as long as we could. With Ry working in Orem now, we needed to find a place somewhere in the middle of both our jobs. So Lehi it is. I know, Utah County? But hey, we can do all our stuff in Sunday and have no crouds because they will all be in church! I wonder if they have a wine store? We got a GREAT deal. It was a foreclosure and is brand new. Never lived in. We are so excited to have our big house and big yard (when we get it in of course). Should be moving in about a month. Hopefully we sell the condo by then, if not, two mortgages for a while will be our life. But, believe me, it will be worth it!

Birthday Girl!

Our baby Madi turned one on May 29th. We had a great BBQ at my parents home. Thanks Mom & Dad! As you can see, little bug enjoyed her cake just a little bit. She was a riot to watch. Needless to say, she had a slight sugar rush that kept her up until midnight. Oh well, you only turn one once right? I can't believe how fast this year has gone. It seems like yesterday I was just pregnant with her. And now she is this walking, talking beatiful being. What a joy it is to be a mom. What a joy to be Madison's mom. I love you buggy!

TuTu's & Pearls

This has been another one of those weeks. Poor little Mads had to have tubes placed in her ears on Thursday. Let's hope this will help ease up on all the ear infections. Lord knows she can't be on antibiotics all the time! I am seeing an improvement already and I hope she continues to progress.
My friend Bonnie was out to visit a few weeks ago and took these great pics of Madi. She did such a great job, as always. I think she really captured her personality. Thanks Bon Bon!

Zoo

For the first day of Spring, my Sister, Mom and I decided to take the kids to the zoo. It was a BEAUTIFUL day! This was Madi's first time too. I think she just enjoyed being outside more than anything. But she did love the monkeys :) Jack, my nephew, loves the "roundo roundo". Otherwise known as a carousel. Thanks Mom and Dantzel for such a fun day!

Antibiotics, Taxes &Automobiles

Well, this week has been one to remember. It started off with me getting a cold from hell. I had no voice at all and was miserable. Madi is still not feeling well on top of it. More on that a bit later. So, Wednesday morning, I was deliriously drove to work after a long night. I park in the underground parking lot of our building. On a normal day it's tight parking but on this day... Let's just say that my nice expensive white car met a red cement pillar. Ugghh. The insurance company called today and it's over 2k work of damage. Thank God for a $500 deductible. And for an understanding husband. He just laughed and said he was glad I was okay. I finally took Madi into the doc today. I had a feeling it was a little more than teething or a cold. And sure enough, she has a raging ear infection in both ears :( Poor little thing. Good note is, we did our taxes last night and we actually get a return this year! Yeah! Usually we owe because were in a crappy tax bracket. Too bad most of the return will go towards the car. On the bright side, I'm feeling better. Madi is on antibiotics. And I have a rental car! Things are looking up!

Teething

The Morgan household has been crazy as of late. Our jobs have been super busy, creating late nights and very early mornings. And to add to it, Mads is teething. Uggghh. Usually she is the most content little thing but not lately. She's up most the night :( There is only so much coffee in the world, and it's not cutting it lately! I went to the store today and bought every teether known to man! We'll see how they work out. Besides the teething, Madi is getting funner and funner by the day. I now get "Ma Ma" all the time. I still damn near cry every time she says it. We are working on "Da Da" now. She is crawling all over the house which is making for weekends spent baby proofing. I am realizing that our house is a death trap! What were we thinking with some of our furniture choices? I still look at her every day and can't believe how beautiful it is to be her Mom!

So I have not posted for a while. Really trying to get back into the grove of things after the holidays. (Ya, I know it's almost February) However just wanted to make a note of how proud I was today to be an American. The inauguration of Obama today was something that I will not forget. How amazing it was to see millions of people gather and be a part of history. Not trying to push my political views on anyone. That is what makes our country so great! I truly believe that no matter what political party, race or religion you may be, today was a celebration of all of us!

Last night we attended my work's annual holiday party. This year was a casino theme. So, Ry & I dressed up in the old rat pack era. We had a BLAST! We only wish that all the money Ry won last night would have been real! It was our official first date since we had Madi. We really need to do it more often :)

Hooray for Christmas!! I LOVE this time of year. Some might say I go a little overboard with the holiday (my husband) but, oh well. And now, with having Madi, I have an excuse for watching all those holiday cartoons and movies :)) Ryan & I spent the day yesterday putting up the Christmas tree and decorations. Mad's loves the lights and the cat loves the tree. Kitty has yet to tip the tree over yet, but I know it is coming. So today I thought I would put Madi in her Christmas dress and take some pics by the tree. Let's just say she was NOT having it! I started to get a little frustrated looking through the pictures, not really having one good one. And then I realized the results are hilarious! I didn't get my perfect picture, but I did get a great memory :) After all, that is what this time of year is all about right?

St. George Getaway

We decided to make a quick weekend getaway to visit Ryan's parents in St. George this past weekend. Mom & Dad have a BEAUTIFUL new home with a swimming pool :) Madi had her first swim. She loved it. She also got to meet Great Grandma Morgan for the first time and many of her cousins, aunts and uncles. Thanks to Mom & Dad for letting us barge in and stay. We really needed the R & R :))

Well my 12 weeks of maternity leave are almost up. I return to work on Thursday. I have cried every day for about a week now. It's been such a different range of emotions lately. I am excited to get back to work. Just to have a little structure in my life again and be able to get out of pj's and shower each day! But my baby girl.... uhhhh why is is that we mothers think that there is not another person in the world that could possibly know how to care for you child but you? I know that this will be much harder on me than it will be on her but, I still can't wonder if I am doing the right thing? I can't win really. I feel guilty for going to work. But I think I would go crazy being home. Plenty of women do this. I can right?

"Wii" are Family

We went up home yesterday to visit with the family to celebrate Isaac's return from his mission yesterday. The entire family was there and we had a blast. The Wii was very entertaining. Boxing in particular. I am still sore as of this morning from my endless rounds with Dan! :) Isaac just jumped right back into family life. Playing cards, Risk and Wii. Who knew a RM could box so well?...

Baby Madison Jane Morgan was born on May 29th at 4:32 pm! She was 5 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 in long. She was much smaller than we thought she was going to be. She is so strong for her size. It was a quick labor. Only about 8 hours. Thank God for epidurals!!! I would not do it any other way. She is the love of our lives. Ryan and I could not be happier! Thank you to all the family and friends who came to visit and for all the warm wishes we received! We are truly blessed :)
